Bass/Pike Rigs
« on: Dec 31, 2017, 02:59 PM »
I wanted to do some experimenting this year. I usually use the coated steel leader when fishing for pike but wanted to try and target bass as well at the same time. Any recommendations on what kind of leader to use? I know switching to mono can cause more break offs with the toothy fish but wanted to try and target a few fish at one time.

I've used the coated steel leaders for toothy critters, If you have the money I highly recommend titanium leaders. When you wrestle a beast and it's all flopping around, it kinks your steel leader. Titanium is reeealll nice.

What works real good for big bass is Berkley Fire-line Fused Crystal. Its almost like a braided line (think power-pro) and extremely strong. Yet it's pretty clear when submerged. I use it often for pickerel and pike. Very strong, low vis.
