Elk Ridge / Waskesiu
« on: Jan 16, 2018, 07:35 AM »
Hey all,

Heading up to Elk Ridge for the February 23/24th weekend for my first time.  Hoping to get out ice fishing for one day but am not sure where to start...

Is there decent ice fishing within an hour of Elk Ridge Resort that would normally be accessible by truck?  What kind of species can I expect to run into up there?  Any help is appreciated!

Montreal lake (nice size pike) and bittern(pickerel) are usually drivable after some truck trails are made!

I have been looking for any rules pertinent to fishing in the park but can’t seem to find any. Specifically the use of gas augers and vehicles on Waskesiu lake. I have a buddy that says no power augers or vehicles allowed in the ice. Just looking to clarify if any one knows.

I just read through the anglers guide for 2017 and did not find any information.

no vehicles allowed on waskesiu lake but you can use a gas auger.  no quads or snowmobiles anywhere in the park either and no minnows or fish parts as bait.

as far as fishing close to the resort you've got mcphee and anglin which have pike and walleye or a little further bittern and montreal.  there is also a stocked trout pond right at elk ridge, if you're interested just send me a p.m.

Sent you a pm ran7ger.

Anyone have recent ice or fishing reports at anglin or mcphee?
