3 posts in the last year all asking the same question, conditions at Goose Pond.

I haven't fished it myself this year, but have heard it has ice. I would personally check it if you are going to take an ATV out, that responsibility falls solely on you.

Was there 2 weeks ago with about 7" of ice. Not sure what the 2 days of warmer weather will do. Be careful and check first.
I believe in catch and release! Every fish deserves a second chance.

Do not know if true but was told by a snowmobiler that his friend 's machine went through the ice and had a specialty environmental firm recover it from water costing several thousand $$$.
He did not recover the machine for financial reasons but was legally required to do so.

Any other such stories of recovery requirements and costs?

Yes. You are required by law to remove any gas engine vehicle should it fall in the water.
Not only will you have to pay thousands to have it removed, you are fined for each day it is in the water.
And the fine isn't cheap.
There is a HUGE financial deterrent to letting a vehicle go through the ice.
