Not good fishin buddy  :-\

I can't believe how much snow there is on the lake now!! [ or hard it is ]

I got there before pcsminer and went down Stoney Side.  I got out on to the lake, maybe 500 m and got stuck...bad.

My 4x4 Jimmy was buried to the axles.  After about 1/2 getting out, my brother-in-law and I went to Kip Side.  I looked like from the crest of the hill the snowmobile trail was hard-packed so we decided to shoot to the other side of the lake.  [ by the old cabin ]  We fished over there maybe 3.5 hrs.  Caught one 2 lb pike [ brother-in-law ] and that was it for us.  We had a decent amount of bites, but they were so soft.  You would get a fish 1/2 way up the hole and lose it.  Meanwhile pcsminer stayed on the other side of the lake [ where his shack is ] and had slow afternoon as well.  He did however catch one pike as well, nice size fish [ 7 - 8 lb ].  We called it a day around 4:00 pm.

Shawno you should have stayed 10 more minutes. My flag went off again as i was filleting my fish so of course I missed it as my hands were pretty much froze. Kris coulda had his first fish on a  oh well maybe next time the bite will be better.

was down at kip this morning for 3 hours and managed to get 3 pike. One nice 7.5 lber right at the start;barely got the tip up set up and it was flag time. The other 2 were lil hammer handles so I took a quick pic of the first one so I can get something entered in the tourney and I sent them all back down the hole for another day.

went down to kip this afternoon to try some pike fishing. never landed a one. I had a total of 4 flags but every time I went to set the hook ,they were gone. Every time I brought it up after to check the bait they had the head part ripped off on all the hits also they only hit the bait I had colored and not the normal ones..Oh well at least I got out and had a few flags to keep me entertained;better than sitting in the house.

Sorry to hear that you didn't have very good luck today fishin buddy...

Have you considered moving spots?

Mind you, fishing was not much better where I was last weekend either...

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date...

thats right ;sometimes I like to color my baits with food coloring to try to attract them in more, but I usually use a bit of all kinds of color to mix it up and see what the pike are hitting. And yes wear latex gloves because food coloring doesnt come off as easy as you think(a lesson learned)

How do you color your baits? Do you just squirt on the food coloring or do you soak the bait in food coloring and water for a while?

All you have to do is drop a little on the bait and smear it around. It stains the fish really well. I also found if u take a knife and cut the belly an put some inside it seems to seep out into the water.

Neat O, pcsminer. If the red food coloring leaks out slowly it would give the illusion of the fish is bleeding. 8)
Thanks for the info and quick response. :)

I don't know if you can drive wherever you want but I'm pretty sure there will be some main trails to get out on the lake. I haven't been there for awhile but if I where going I would take a snowmobile it's just that much easier.

Go to Kip side...and walk out about 100 yards from the store.  You will see other shacks in that area.  Water depth ranges anywhere from 4-14 ft.

Good Luck,

Let us know how you do...

Was down at kip this morning for 3 hours and managed to get 17 perch. One of the best catches Ive had all year there for perch not like last winter. But other than that you always caught a few but pretty slow like every where else.It seemed they were hot and heavy for 2hours and then all of a sudden for the last hour I couldnt get a bite if i tried so I pulled up line and headed off.
