I run an Elite 5 HDI on my boat and on the ice and have had three software updates, just loaded the last one before I head to Lake Champlain, VT next week. They are easy to install, check the Lowrance website for updates, download the file from Lowrance, copy the file to an SD card, put the card in the unit and turn it on. Once it is complete you need to delete the file from the card if you leave the card in the unit or it will update every time you turn the unit on.
