Bottom Type?
« on: Jan 16, 2010, 08:03 PM »
I went out today with my FL 18 for its maiden voyage and was getting some readings that I didn't understand.  Now I have "fished" with flashers my whole life, at least there was always one in the shack I was in, but I never really LEARNED how to read it.  Today I was in the Auto Zoom mode in 10 foot of water and I was getting a reading on the left side and I couldn't figure it out.  I was seeing my jig as a green line then saw the leading edge of the bottom as a nice solid red line about 1/4" to 1/2" then there was a thin green line then another thick red line.  Other times the bottom was reading as a solid orange.

I am guessing that the times when it was orange it was telling me that it was a soft bottom, but I am not certain.  What would the other be telling me?

This might be covered in the instructional DVD but mine did not have one, the place I bought it from said they would call Vexilar and get one ordered for me.
