Does anybody have any updates on ice conditions at Shoal Lake? Interested in trying for whitefish one of these days. Thanks for any info you can provide.

No roads off Clytie from what I've heard. And some open water in spots...

A friend was on Lake of the Woods yesterday down to Shammis Island at the 12 mile portage. He said the ice ridges were treacherous and that some fishermen almost got stranded down by Whiskey Island as the ridges opened up in the afternoon.
Another guy who has a place on Wolf reports that several big holes were opening up around the pressure ridges near his place and the Welcome Channel. He said the Billy Goat area is still really bad. I know of 3 trucks that have gone through to the axles so far and two quads sunk.
Today it got up to 3 degrees at my place. Ice is definitely moving around with these unseasonable temperatures.
Be safe out there,
Glen
