Frabill Arctic Fire spool capacity
« on: Jan 31, 2018, 10:32 PM »
Hello all,
I'm a long time lurker and this is my first post.  I have a variety of old(er) HT Polar style tip ups and I was looking to get a few newer ones to add to the collection.  I liked the looks of the Frabill Arctic Fires at the local Cabela's, so I picked up a few.  I normally use 50# line and I quickly realized that the flag gets stowed away in the little hole on the side of the spool because the flag is too short to reach and tuck under the end brace the way the HT Polars do it.  I filled the spool up as far as I could go without covering the hole and then measured...54 feet of line.  Granted, this is thick line.  Am I missing something obvious with this design regarding an easy way to "fill up" your spool and still be able to stow the flag for storage?
