Anyone recognize this hook?
« on: Feb 22, 2021, 07:46 PM »
Got a few of these hooks from a friend, I really like them. I'm on my last one and want to order more but my friend can't remember what they are. Anyone recognize it?

It did originally have the bend, though it is probably a bit more exaggerated now after yanking it out of some fish mouths with pliers.

Yep! All the rage for riggin' back in the 60's. The old man had a box of 'em everywhere. I believe Eagle Claw was the first to produce.

From the Eagle Claw catalog:

"KAHLE HOOKS -This is one of the most versatile hook on the market today. Others may know this hook as a wide gap or a shiner hook but the kahle was built exclusively by Eagle Claw. So versatile, this hook can be used with either live or chunk bait and is great for freshwater or saltwater. Kahle hooks come in a wide range of sizes and colors and can be used for bass, catfish, trout, redfish, drum, flounder, and more."
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

Used to use those with fatheads or plastics when we'd wade fish the river in the summertime.  I've found they've gotten harder to find locally for me - last batch I got, I had to order on-line

I think that's a Gamakatsu Walleye Wide Gap.
