Well, if the forcast is correct and the winds come up, looks like you'll get a fresh start.  Need some serious cold and no snow to get a good ice sheet going.  Good luck guys.
We should be in really good shape up here by mid next week.  :icefish:

Nights are getting shorter and days are getting longer. Plus we have spring conditions right now. It's going to be tough to turn it around.

It would be nice to squeak out another month though.

I'm staying positive for not just getting on the Oneida ice again this year, I'm getting ready for good, hard, thick safe ice  all the way out to the Shakelton shoals too.

I dropped off my ice fishing snowmobile today at the sled shop in Deposit NY for a tune up and new ice scratchers .... ;)2

That's a good one oneida1 and true  :roflmao:...but it's just not as much fun as jigging them on a short rod and pulling them  up an ice hole..

I hope you're right Jason.

Winter is to short to be wrong.  Going to be a replay of 2012/2013 winter.  I went to quinte Feb 5 lake just skimmed over.   Hadn't been on main lake yet.  Next weekend we were on dakin with sleds.

I had to look at my log. That year my first trip mid-lake on the sled was 2/16 and we made it to the end of March. There were a few days below zero at the end of January though.

That was the year wheelers were falling in cracks left and right.  Looking at forecast after tomorrow it's going to get cold.  Lake can't be that warm.  I think we set up quick once we get that first inch.  Driving through Bernhard's bay this a.m. there was alot of ice still out there.  Not sure if it blew open more today.

I fished the beach on March 15th that year.  The bite was aggressive up to the last weekend of ice.

If your predictions hold true, according to 2013, we will see ice time on Oneida. I remember a similar season as this winter.

That was the year we started in North Bay on 1/8. Then that ice got bad, then it froze up most of the lake by the end of January. Then it got a little sketchy again until the middle of February. After that we fished everywhere for almost a month. Just before the walleye close it started getting sketchy mid-lake but the East end was good.

I would take that year any day. The walleye bite was on fire.
