The weather channel 15 day forecast shows below freezing every night and day after tomorrow.

I can look at the forecast 10 times a day.  It never gets old

was it the year the middle never froze up??

That was the 2011/2012 season.  Sylvan/Edgewater and constantia were the main places all year.

There's no fish on shackleton.  😜
You are right s10xr...Shack and all the mid-lake shoals are way overrated...lot's of structure , but no fish ;)

I just looked at some notes...(2012/2013 season)     some of you might remember photo's  I posted of my first ever 50 fish ice fishing limit of Oneida Jumbo Yellow Perch..well, it was that year on March 9 2013  ;D

(I think Fred filet limited out on Perch the next day too !)

That was the year we started in North Bay on 1/8. Then that ice got bad, then it froze up most of the lake by the end of January. Then it got a little sketchy again until the middle of February. After that we fished everywhere for almost a month. Just before the walleye close it started getting sketchy mid-lake but the East end was good.

I would take that year any day. The walleye bite was on fire.
reeleyz,  Perch bite was great too....hope this year ends up like that year , with a hot walleye and perch bite during most of  Feb. and   March...that will kind of make up for the lousy star we've had with poor conditions and an inconsistent bite so far this season.
My boots on some ice... A line down a hole...Some fish on the screen... And a flag in the air !......Winter is Good !!

South of Oneida in places with some elevation the ice didn't break up, but sure did break down. On average we had around 8"/10" of pretty good ice before the warm up. We're at 32.4 F this morning with temps dropping tonight and staying that way for several days and nights. Lot of derbies have been postponed. My hope is to go out and check conditions Sunday morning after a good 36 hours below freezing. Had a pretty good perch bite going on until mother nature tossed me out. Stay safe, smile and enjoy what we get!  ;D

The ice that was residing in Bernhard's bay is not pretty much gone.  That ice in front of constantia is one tough sob.

The gates normally stay open all winter.

Days of above freezing temps and rain melted tons of snow and created a lot of run off.

Stacking up pretty good here [south east end] . Need a good easterly blow to move it out or I think our end will be tough to fish.

If you fellas have good safe ice in the next few weeks, watch out for the creek areas , there's a ton of water runoff from the melt ,rain, just look at all the wet to flooded areas, the Oneida Lake watershed north of the lake is just full of water. Be watchful.

I'd like to look at the Striker suits.  Do any of our stores in Central New York big or small carry them?

I've got a striker suit.  Climate coat and hardwater bibs.  Great stuff!  If you ever get up to Black Lake (WE GOT ICE!) @)  Chapmans Sport Shop, on the lake, has the suits.  Decent price as well.

Racer there is a sale going on with the Striker suits. In the General topics, "Best Ice deals!! Lets hear em!" thread, a guy just picked up a set of Predator bibs for $122 normally $200. Not sure but I think it was Gander. Love mine.

Gander has the predator suit not sure if it's the same as hardwater suit. The hardwater suite is great, warm and comfortable. Worth every penny

Thanks everyone.  I'll take a ride to Gander and check them out.  The Guardian might be the one for me.  I don't want a lot of insulation.
