Ice is pretty bare in most spots with little snow but there is at least three inches scheduled by this weekend. Ice reports from friends have been a foot plus all over but be careful with soft shores. Good luck out there

Ice as of today couldn't be better! No snow, and no slush any where I checked.

Just got back from 4 days at Simon pond. 15 + inches of ice, no snow and drove truck right out. Many perms set up now for the derby. This was our 3 year up there and very slow. Usually get 100 to 150 fish total and only about 40 between 7 people over the time we were there. It was slow everywhere up there, tupper, simon, racket and long lake all slow from the people we talked to. Have a great time and good luck to all!

My nephew and 4 others in their group did pretty good. Couple door prizes, a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in the hourly. PLUS, the only guy in the group that didn't have a 4-wheeler, has one now. It is all the luck of the draw. They are a lucky bunch. They have seen the skunk in other years. Nephew won a sled in the WC a few years ago. That is why I don't go with them. Don't want to jinx them...lol No matter what, I bet you had a good time...h2l

9 guys and only two sub-legal pike. My buddy won an Eskimo 949 .... not bad for no
Drive home Sunday was not real fun! If it wasn't for the prizes & chance to win a wheeler I am pretty sure we would fish the Cranberry derby, smallest fish there would have won the Challenge.

X2, our group said the same thing. The 9lbs fish that won Northern Tournament would only have placed after the 5th hour of fishing at Cranberry. Prizes gotta be the only reason so many join. Last years fish I think was around 13lbs. No big pike being caught for a pike tournament. Think the 11 of us will head to Cranberry next year.

I think last years was only 10 lbs. We only had one flag last year and landed one under sized norther. And we were not lucky enough to win anything either.
