Well were getting ice on farm ponds up here in Northern Rensselaer county.  This keeps up and I will be on a relatively unknown alpine trout lake in a few weeks.

I have renewed confidence in the remote Alpine lake, and am dying to try jigging for its inhabitants. let me know :)

Speaking of remote alpine lakes, have any of you fished Lost Pond, Goose Pond, Crane Pond or Eagle Lake through the ice??  Goose and Crane may have special regs, but Lost and Eagle don't, I believe.  I hit Goose a few times a year but have ever ventured on the ice (except in April, it thaws late).

I'll be fishing up at college when I get back on Sunday afternoon!   ;D There was ice forming on the smaller ponds when I left on Friday, so with these colder temps, I'll be on when I get back! Anyone care to join me?  ;)

Speaking of remote alpine lakes, have any of you fished ... or Eagle Lake

I've fished eagle a few times, my friend has a nice camp on there.  There are some nice perch (11" avg) in there, but they are stricltly early morning/late evening feeders.  Trout do come on tip-ups (browns 14" range), but no one generally targets them.  The lake also has some nice crappies, but no one seems to catch them through the ice.
