Most likely local birds that got pushed south due to snow and cold.

Last 15 years or so, alot of animals have been wintering over, especially robins.   the geese are local birds that don't migrate.  there's so many geese now that they are simply everywhere.

I seen robins during the winter in New York many times. Some were during the worst winters as far as temps and snow goes. Don't read anything into it.

There is a good amount of robins which stay all winter in Fair Haven. Lots of birdfeeders will keep them.

Robins don't all go South, they go to their new feed supply in the woods, i see them all winter around here in the southern ADK.s.

Not all robins leave the area for winter, nor do all bluebirds, goldfinches ect. If there is access to a food source some smaller numbers of them will stick around the whole winter season.

Gold Finches are always around, they just are not gold in the winter...   They change to an olive color in the winter.... ;D

I've been seeing robins all winter long for years now, they hunker down in thickets and swamps in large groups, I don't think they go south anymore, like our geese.

If the robins are in your yard, it means they never packed their bags and left.Take breasts, dip in beer batter, fry in hot peanut oil , taste just like chicken, works very well with Walleye too
