favorite laker baits

What are all your favorite baits for tip up fishing lakers. I know whne i used to go for them my father always used iceicles and they seemed to work ok. But id like to hear other peoples opinions and i like trying new things. thanks guys.

smelt when you can use them. on george a mix of icies and med suckers.

Have a 50/50 rate between suckers and shiners. If I could catch a dang smelt they would be on. where legal of course.

I think dink perch/sunnies would work really well. I use shiners on my tip-ups, but haven't been using tip-ups this year. Hunts were my favorite, hopefully they will be allowed next year. Large icicles are a close second but hard to find and they don't stay as lively as the hunts.

 I agree with oletimer. I had a sucker on Saturday and it was hit just sending down. We had 4 lakers in about 20 min and it was only 7:15 am. Then 0 the rest of the day between 6 of us. What gives.

i was  out on saterday and didnt see one all day so dont be too upset. it was a frustrating day but a good one when all was said and done. only a few keeper pirch after a long day of looking for them. went too a spot on lake george that my dad used to take me too i think might be weak. next weekend im going to search some new places out and try forem again though
