Stump ice
« on: Mar 15, 2014, 08:55 PM »
0" - 6"  of ice at stump today.
wet and slushy. Saw one bass come thru the ice. Heard of 6 lb. bass and big pike also caught.
Edges were thin. look a for shady shore line, to get on or bring plank.

I was out on the North cove of Stump today and had 6-10 inches of ice and walked right on . Check out the pressure ridge , water area at entrance to North cove . .
How are the edges ?

Bass and Pike fishing is usually pretty slow. I have never caught a bass over 3 lbs in Stump - not saying there isn't any. Definitely at the bottom of my list for places to fish.
Just add water.

I agree , Stump can be really Slowwww. But also there's a chance for a big pike , and also a big bass .  . This is my biggest bass so far in my life . It weighed 10lbs on scale .And we reset scale and it weighed I the mid 9lb range. The group I was with convinced me to let it go , so I did. As soon as the bass went down the hole , they all started saying " I would have kept it and had it mounted !" Well at least I have some pictures of it . And it was caught on Stump through the ice, about 12 years ago.

I was holding fin to keep it from spinning, :angel and I think I might have jacket  in the basement. I still wear those Gortex bibs everyday on the ice.
