Hard to guess for here in Southern Michigan! Just hoping for good ice at this point, last few years have been horrible

I think having the floating ice suit gives you an unfair early season advantage  ;D ;D

If I can get my feet on the ice before Christmas I'll be a happy guy, but considering everything these feet hold up I won't push it. I'm gunning for 12.23.13!

For the last 4 Years I have Ice Fished before the start of the new year. Last year i was fishing Lake Ninahva in Mt Holly the weekend before Christmas. so i Plan on keeping that tradition alive. I predict i will be on the ice before Christmas somewhere.
Some key spots to Look for first ice are Chittenden Dam, Lake Ninahva, North of the float bridge on Bomo, Huff pond , Burr Pond .. Usally these place freeze up first . Hope to see you all on the ice this year..
I do all types of fishing; but I am Die hard Ice angler.
I love Ice Fishing the lakes of Rutland County. Recently moved to NY and now will be Ice fishing the Lakes Of New York.

we usually have 3-6 inches up in the islands   within the first week of dec
carry bay    Kelly bay    sometimes a small area of the sandbar    dillenbach bay in alburg     and over by the alburg/swanton bridge
always good early places

last weeks water temp readings through the islands were sandbar is at 49,  carry bay was at 49   dillenbach was at 48    Kelly bay was at 46
I am sure what it has been this week it must have dropped at least 2-4 degrees

I heard island pond had a heavy coating on it last Saturday

Easy one this year!  "Full Cold Moon" will come on 12/17/13 and should provide some walkable ice somewhere in the northeast.

My favorite is duck hunting the last day of the champlain season then ice fishing the week after!! Last year that didn't happen because snow came just as the ice was forming >:( but hey! fingers crossed for this year!
