Jig Set-up Help
« on: Mar 01, 2008, 06:08 AM »
Hi all,

I have never had much luck with jigging, so I want to get a better idea of what to do.

When jigging, do you just put a single jig on your line, or do you put several on your line with dropper loops?

What are your set ups?

Also what reels do you favor?  I have 3 reels, and the only one that I like is the Okuma  UL.  It is smooth, and has a great drag.  One is a no-name POS, and the other is an Eagle Claw FL500 that is still under evaluation (just got it).  So far I'm not happy with its drag.  It felt smooth in the store, but after putting line on it and messing with it, its not that smooth.

Thanks for the help,

Forget it.  Im sorry that I bought it.  Horrible on the ice.  I got into some crappie's last night, and the drag cost me some fish.  I'll play with it some more to see if I can smooth it out, but Im overall unsatisfied.

Ever consider learning to back reel? Even the best drag system that gets a drop of water frozen where it shouldn't can be a nightmare, why rely on it.
