A little dab will do 'ya
« on: Oct 30, 2018, 04:49 AM »
For those who may struggle (me) in getting the perfect knot when tying your wire leader on to "whatever", I used a dab of fingernail polish at said knot to help hold in place. I used it on the uncoated type leader. Will know if it works when put under duress and out in the elements. Not sure if the polish would adhere to the uncoated or not. Experimentation is fun.  ;)

I recall using fingernail polish in place of fly fishing head cement at times on hand-tied flies and even on spawn bags when using thread to tie those closed.

Question! Would super glue work? Or would there be a chemical reaction,  say on mono/ floro line. Making it weaker.

They are types of plastic and super glue works on plastic so I would say ok.
