Gills on Plastics
« on: Feb 14, 2009, 09:34 PM »
I'm sold on plastic jig tails-- Little Atom Micro Noodles/purple caught the best gills of the day after my waxies ran out. Solid hits too! Far better results than w/ Gulp-- I might just leave the live bait @ home  :D

Bulls, Jumbos & Slabs Oh My!

I'm glad that you like plastics because I found out that I do too!! For some reason I have had good luck with a salmon color.
Ice is on the lake so we're goin' fishin'!

Rarely even carry live anymore. Easier to give 'em something that looks like what their looking for with plastics. Good looking fish

I still use live bait, but often fool gills and perch with plastic when the reject wax worms etc. In my experience you need to experiment with colors. It's good to have confidence in a lure or bait, but sometimes what was good last time is exactly that!

this will be my third season of being "Live bait free", I started off with Berkley Honeyworms and Gulp waxies, and have  moved on to some Little Atom baits...this season I made a purchase of Maki plastics and they look even better then the rest.

I made the move as the local shop was always low or out of waxies, so i started carrying them as a back up...but the last longer and bring in just as many fish

I second the Berkley Honey Worms. I have had best luck with Yellow. Also had decent luck with the lime green gulp!
