« on: Nov 18, 2018, 02:48 PM »
just registered and thought i would introduce myself. I just moved to MN from southern CA So i'm New to Hard Water, Last year i tried it and I'M IN LOVE. Being a newbie I don't know much, but i caught the bug and i've already gotten everything i need to go out as much as possible (the basics a pop up shelter, rods, hand auger etc, working up to a garage full of nre stuff) being from so cal  I was basically a Saltwater fisherman, Either Deep sea or shore fishing on the beach or off a pear.
I live in the south metro area and i hope to learn as much as i can here about hard water/ ice fishing. Maybe Ill get to meet some coll people here also

Matt, welcome to iceshanty. perfect timing. in about 2 weeks they,ll have this great big ice show in St. Paul with LOTS of tackle, but more importantly, they have the BEST ice men as guest speakers on different aspects of icefishing . well worth   your time to shorten the learning curve. they,ll usually take q.s and share their knowledge freely. show is  Nov. 30- Dec. 2. if you go i,ll see you there. i,ll be the guy from pa., ,n, you,ll be the only guy with a BEACH tan. lol wire

Don't reel against the drag!!!

Ex Minnesnowta lad! You can take the lad out of Minnesnowta, but you can't take Minnesnowta out of the lad!!

Think long and hard before you jump in with both feet. When you tell people you're an ice fisherman, you'll get a funny look and a faint smile and then you notice them looking

around to see where their kids are. You might not want to include it in the hobby part your job resume either.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Wow So. Cal to Minnesota. Now that's a move. Welcome to the Fold. I suspect Minnesota and northern Maine have alot in common with respect to Weather. My grandfather used to say, "There are 2 seasons in Maine... Winter and the 4th of July." Welcome to Paradise.
