This has been brought up on other parts of the forum, but the study focused mainly on Great Lakes and surrounding areas. Areas with large Industrial companies. I would not be as worried eating from smaller bodies of water with no Industrial companies surrounding. Yes pollution can drift on air or flow downstream in water, but it hasn't nor will it change my fish eating habits. If your fishing in areas with large industrial polluters maybe use some caution, check local water test data, there are things you can do to be informed.

Heres a good anecdote for comparison (sorry gatorade drinkers)  in the US there is a banned ingredient in Gatorade that isnt in the drink in the UK.  I can't remember what it was, but it caused cancer.  Processed foods we eat today are far more dangerous than 99.9% of the fish we harvest.

I plan to.I was just saying we as humans pollute everything and then go eat or drink it. From the soil to the air to the water. It’s just sad to see and theirs no money in cleaning up anything just ruining the resource.

Same uproar impacted our baking business years ago. Rail cars with flour were treated with bromine gas to kill any pests that hitchhiked. People screamed and we had to stop using it. Same deal for something called azodicarbonamide (ADA). It is a chemical substance approved for use as a whitening agent in cereal flour and as a dough conditioner in bread baking. However: "The biggest concern is the production of ethyl carbamate (also called urethane), which IARC lists as “probably carcinogenic” during baking. Less direct evidence of harm exists for azodicarbonamide, but the lack of clarity on its safety is cited by groups like CSPI as a reason to avoid it.

Big Brother is everywhere protecting us from ourselves. These days anything with a name we cannot pronounce or understand is probably in someone's crosshairs. Wait until they ban sodium chloride... In fairness things like DDT, Thalidomide and tobacco products were used happily for decades before their extreme negative impacts came to light.

There is no clean water in this country and dec has had a long list of waters with fish consumption warnings for a long time even the upper lakes in the Adirondacks are to acidic to support fish from acid rain they drop Lyme with helicopters to raise pH so they will support trout

The only thing I'm worried about are those creepy little grubs in my bluegill fillets   I'm sure I've eaten a bunch but if I see them, I cut them out. I''ll still drink my well water, eat wild mushrooms, venison and home grown veggies.  Can't stand onions though

The only thing I'm worried about are those creepy little grubs in my bluegill fillets   I'm sure I've eaten a bunch but if I see them, I cut them out. I''ll still drink my well water, eat wild mushrooms, venison and home grown veggies.  Can't stand onions though

i eat duck pheasant and rabbit and  occasionally frog legs  along with all listed above .....guess i'm a goner

that show made me have nightmares and made me think twice about doing a lot of different things. but I still watched them all. there was one where a kid got leprosy from kicking a dead armadillo and taking his shoe off later. man. unlucky.

You are absolutely better to eat fish from spring fed lakes..over farm fish..their
Fish are fed dog food and junk..I grow everything I can ,chickens,pigs, ect..I grew up on a small 100 acre dairy farm..milking cows,hauling hay,corn,oats ect..we all need to go back to the older days and take of ourselves and each other.
