Wow that is sweet! What does the prospector kit mean? Tracks and a winch?

My retired mud pit racer now serves for ice transport on the bigger lakes... Sportsman 800, built motor, nitrous, clutched, snorkeled, 3" lift, sold my 32"s so now she's on 28"s. Kind of a pain in the butt to ride slow and mellow... Looking for a vintage sled to take over the chore.

The difference between an 8" hole and a 10" hole is.....a 10" hole will usually give you your boot back!

Yes, it is my 1982 Ski-Doo Elite with a 444 liquid cooled Rotax engine. It has forward, reverse, heated grips as well as a am radio. Twin tracks with the motor in the rear...pulls like a tank, and rides like an old school sled

Lousy photo, but she's just arrived at her new home. The trusty old 1988 Safari is going to a new home soon.

No, I have never had it stuck, but we joke that if I ever do we will need a helicopter to lift it out, It is a great trail machine and an even better ice sled.

For sure two tracks is better than one. ;D Any idea what it weighs, bet it's not real heavy in comparison to some of the 1200cc big boys nowadays.

Its right around the 900 lbs and we estimate 1200 lbs with 2 guys aboard. It has remarkable power and floats very well across ditches and fields. The running gear is basically two Ski-Doo Everests side by side with the 450LC rotary valve engine mounted on top. in the front is a trunk like a VW bug would have. It is geared lower than most of this size, top end is about 55 ~ 60mph depending on the load.

Thats a cool sled I would love to find one of those, like others have said it would not be fun getting that thing unstuck for sure I would mount a winch on it with some steel spikes and somd other recovery equipment just in case I like the looks of the old sleds the new ones remind me of those transformer toys my kids used to play with

Do the same as I do with my tracked wheeler - I'm probably right in line with your weight.  I have a winch mounted so I can move it from front to rear and I carry a nice tow strap with a piece of angle iron.  Drill a hole put the angle iron with the end of the strap attached down the whole and use it as an anchor for the winch.  Never had to do this, but I'm prepared.  @)

A bit beefier than I imagined, but a great machine. What I like about it as a sxs machine for icefishing is that the roll bar doesn't restrict your ability to bail out if you...er...get wet.

Reminds me of the old Mantas. I'd add a winch to it for sure, looks like a tank.
