Any surprises yet after accidentally punching the 4WD button?  ;-)

Simple Fix: Pull the 4wd fuse.  ;-)

Now that's a setup WIhoundguy... I would love that!

If you were a local guy I'd let you take it for a spin. There really isn't anywhere it won't go. I get some funny looks barreling down the lake in it, that's for sure.

Whats the reason for not going with front tracks?

Whats the reason for not going with front tracks?

I had front and rear tracks on my Grizzly. The thing could go through anything, but it was hard to steer, slow, heavy, hard to steer, hard on fuel, and threw snow all over. Did I mention hard to steer?

By having the skis on the front vs. tracks, I get more power and top end speed because it's not driving the front tracks. I can turn with one hand, use less fuel, stay dry, and can ride on the trails legally in Minnesota. When summer rolls around I just keep the fuse out of the 4wd and leave the tracks on. For what I use it for, it's a no brainer.

What kind of tracks you have on the Griz?  I got the Tatou 4s sytem and I don't get much snow throwing at all.  And the tracks are geared so the front is always "pulling" just a bit more than the rear is "pushing"  So I don't get that "driving the front tracks" thing.  And the this gearing resolves a LOT of the hard steering issues.  I'd like Power Steering but I can live well without it.
I researched long and hard before making a choice on the tracks.  I think it paid off.  Track choice/design really depends on the use.

I had the camoplast tatou's on the grizzly, but this was about 4 years ago. They might have changed the design since then. In anything under about 8" of snow they didn't throw much, but if it got deep it became a real problem. No matter what though it was still slow. When i mentioned "driving the front tracks" I simply meant that it's in 2wd, not 4, which frees up a lot of power that then goes to the rear.

I got tired of tangled lines on the tip-ups so I added the organizer on the front of the ATV. Ice auger scabbard from a sewer pipe, 5 gallon bucket for skimmer/flashlights/small tools, and minnow bucket is a cooler.

Its been a blast but I wish the rain would not have washed the local snow away. Studded my tracks this week so it will be interesting to see how it goes on the clean ice now.

You will like the studs and the performance on the ice.  If you tow anything (like a sled or flip-over shantie) watchout when you slow down and in turns - they like to go on by you  ;D

Lol, I could just picture myself doing that, as my shanty races past me into other tipups. Classic thought!

gbfdcapt4b: I really like the tip up organizer you made. How did you put that together? Looks like you have a handle on the front so they must all be connected somehow? Great idea!!

This is nothing compared to today's machines, but for the price, it should do me some justice. 1992 Arctic Cat Lynx/340. Hoping to have a blast with this and most importantly get me to those honey holes I was not able to reach on foot. (crossing fingers it will drag my new ice castle once its finally done.)

I have the same sled and it had no problem pulling a 4 x 7 shack.

That is awesomesauce to hear Jerrife. :) We have had it out a few times this year just for joyriding and it seems to have enough low end torque to manage a shack, as long as we have snowcover over the ice. Now I can put that thoght to rest, just gotta finish up the shack before springtime, rofl.

I bolted them together with 1/4 X 3/4 bolts. The tip-ups stay in there in the off season, stored on a shelf in the basement. I put the handle on it to carry it there.
