here is a pic of my tip downs. they are really easy and cheap to make. everybody that walks by me seems to be interested in them. they are very sensitive and the fish feels very little resistance. unlike other rigs, you can watch a fish begin to take the minnow and you can make your way there. the line comes off the spool, up over the wire and down the hole. as the fish takes the wire and flag begins to bounce and then go all the way down. those spools are nice because you can adjust the drag. you may have to change the wire a couple times a season depending on how much they get hit. you can set them up for any species. i have them set up with a little lighter wire for perch and eyes. i also marked on the back of them the local legal lengths (ie. 9",15",18",22"). my father has put legs on his using a coat hanger, therfore you dont have to have slush pile to stick them in. they are really fun to use. make yourself a couple and try em. i have been using them for about 4 years and love them. i haven't found another rig that i like better.
