yeah, i was just on their site. its $33 for the prebuilt, and $14 for the kit. still too pricy for me. i'll stick to my HT windlass and polars. plastic so they dont rot or break, orange so some nutcase on the ice doesnt hit em!

I'll stick to the slammer!!!!  I have some of those plastic polars and some of the ht windless. The plastic polars cost more than 14 bucks .I have 20 regular tip-ups  some are wood some are plastic some are redone with pressure treated.i'll trade ya for 4 of the slammer tip-up kits. If you use pressure treated or ceder the slammer will last the rest of your life!!!!!Paint them orange if you want!!!! ;D if you use one you will love it!!!!!

Probably what some guys said when the wheel came along ;D

I think I'm going to get some for next year for some of the big bows ( 30 - 37 inch range) we have up here. I see them on the flasher and they just sit there and fin and won't bite. Probably spooked by my slight movement or something just not right. We catch up to 27 inches but anything over is real spooky. I think these might be the ticket for big bows.

Anyone use these for lakers? Ours seem to like lots of movement. Just wondering how they would work for them? Can't use fish of any kind as bait where I'm from :-\ .

that kit seems to work great, and the construction is very simple, i think i will make a variation for my 34" ice rods, i absolutely hate using anything bigger unless its for lakers.

Bought the kit 2 weeks ago and have put a few together. Bought my own hardware and tweeked the design a little to make it more user friendly. The directions and the design are great and I can't wait to get on the ice to use it. Took it to work and caught a few out of the raceways at work to see it in action but it's not the same as chasing a flag on the ice. My only question is should I bend the eyelet of the rod more or spread the base apart further or closer? The ring seems to be way to sensitive and pulls free at the slightest tug. I don't want the action to be too stiff. I also don't want to be out there messing with it when i should be fishing. Has anyone tweeked them out and maybe throw a hint my way thanks in advance.

To be honest with you mine has such a hairy trigger i thought it would be falling off in the slightest puff of wind!!! you can ask the guys i fish with how hairy it is and i kid you not in 20mph wind it never came off!!!!(except for when one of those pretty steelhead took my bait!!! ;D)
