Saw that last year and had a couple of questions....
How deep is that lake?? Doesn't look like they are too far from shore. Wondered if it was frozen solid to the bottom  :)
How would you keep the hole from refreezing in a matter of minutes?? I would think that small hole surrounded by ice for 10', it would refreeze really quick.
What if you got a fish and it froze in the hole on the way up? How would you get'em out?? No scooper is going to remove the slush. Do they have to drop a brick down it every so often to keep it open?  :)

LOL, now that's an ice auger. ;D

I was chatting with a lady who use to live up in the Canadian Arctic.
She said that she went ice fishing a few times while she was there.
Where she was fishing the ice was for the most part 12 feet thick.
They usually went for lake trout.
She never mentoned the fish freeing in the hole, but, she said it was a bit more tricky navigating a fighting fish up the 12 foot tube of ice.

In the Canadian shield and arctic, the water can be hundreds of feet deep only 1 or 2 metres from shore.  And was with any ice hole, the hole refreezes from the top, so you scoop the hole out and it stays open okay.

Where are all the shavings/chips from drilling? If you drill through 10' of ice with an 8" or 10" drill you are going to have a mound of shavings.
