January Trout Interlude
« on: Jan 20, 2011, 08:04 AM »
Had a brief thaw a couple weeks ago and one of the streams I fish opened up long enough to get a quick fix of big browns.  I had to fish around some slush but the fish were hungry.  Stream is locked back up with ice and I'm back on the hardwater.

Grumpy,

I can't believe that. What incredible fishing. Do you catch them all in the same time frame.

I wan't to come out. How much do you charge for the guide service.

These are lake run fish from Lake Ontario that enter the tributaries in late fall early winter to spawn , and will drop back to the lake during the winter and early spring.  Along with these browns you also have a shot at some lake run steelhead that are spring spawners and enter the same streams in late winter and drop back to the lake in late April and May after spawning.  I just couldn't find any steel on that particular day, just the browns, but I'm not complaining.  ;D
