« on: Sep 15, 2013, 10:58 AM »
With the arrival of fall everyone is thinking hardwater even more.  Only a few short months and we should just about be on the ice!  Looking forward to seeing all of you regular Diehards on here as well as seeing some new faces.  I will try to keep up to date reports on the ice conditions along with a bunch of the other regulars on here.  Can't wait for ice!!

yes I do that's when I start trolling you won't get the numbers trolling verses a bucktail or a sonar but some is better than none , and the summer months they can try you patience by late Sept. jigging starts to pick up and some shore fishing starts up a little I've been lucky this year 1 day got a goose egg and the other caught 4 but just under size , it's differently one of my luckiest years

Thanks for getting started early. I'm all cranked up already. I live 280 miles from the lake but make several long weekend trips on the ice each year, if I lived close like some of you guys I'd be on Oneida every day. This year I added a new weapon to the arsenal, ordered a Wilcraft. Green Thumb, who many of you know, was very helpfull in that regard but will get no Christmas card from my wife. I'm pretty sure this purchase will insure a super-cold winter with three feet of ice on the lake through March. :icefish:

Was out on the hunt for eyes last night.  Saw a bunch but weeds were to thick for casting.  That water was steaming like crazy though  ;D

Thanks for starting  the official beginning of the 2013/2014 Ice Season .I have many questions that  I will post, as my plans and the seasons progresses, concerning the Great Oneida Fishery . The past posts of this thread have provided very valuable information and inspiration that I hope use on my upcoming planned trip .

Check Craigslist out...They usually have some good one man huts on there. I would recommend a Clam scout or a single man Shappell....

I thought there was something wrong with me for checking out Ice Shanty in October but lo I find there are many of you as fanatical as I. Something about ice fishing!!  Looking forward to seeing you, Eiderz, and your new Wilcraft. I am broken up about the Christmas card but the thought of that first ice eye eases the pain. Hope the farmer's almanac is right about the upcoming winter and here's hoping for DECEMBER ICE !!

I can't wait to get the new toy. Damn, Oneida ice is like sex, it's all I seem to be able to think about. ;D

The silver lining in buying the Wilcraft is the special they have going right now, a new ION auger for $300 with a new machine. Was going to buy one anyway, so I can report that I "saved" money. :icefish:

I have a Clam Kenai. It is a really nice one man shanty and has alot of room for my Marcum, auger, and everything else. I picked mine up late season this past year on sale for $189. They have a list price of $250 but are well worth the money.
