Fogged up windows
« on: Jan 11, 2011, 06:10 PM »
For years I've fought with the windows fogging up in my shanty while the heater is on & am constantly wiping them off looking for flags. The windows are Plexiglas. Does anyone have any fix for this such as something I can spray or wipe on to stop this?

The anti-fog spray that skiers use on their goggles works pretty good. I've used it in my shanty for years. There are several brands. I think you can find it at Dick's.

A guy was showing me his shanty last year and he says he uses 2 layers of plexi glass with a gap of air in the middle to keep his windows from fogging up.  it was working well when we were in there

The wood stove is vented. As stated above LP produces water vaper in fact 98% of the exhaust is, the other 2% can hurt you. Fixes, vented heater or thermopane windows. If your talking about a portable shanty your only option will be air change over, leave to door open once in awile.

I used to use Cat Crap (look it up) to keep my hockey visor from fogging up. It comes in paste and spray, best one I found...

I've got thermopane windows in my shanty and the propane heater still fogs them up.

LP is going to condensate on cold objects a shack would need to be warmed up good. Are your shacks interior walls warm to the touch? If you could heat just the glass that would work also, wonder if something like the rear defogger in your car could be built?

try the rain X anti fog stuff thats in the bottle or spray can and see if that works better. i have never had luck with the wipes on anything always use the actual spray on stuff on my truck windows works pretty good although my heater in there doesnt work off of propane and give off water vapor as exhaust
