I think it's about a 3hr drive or so. Syracuse is about an 1 1/2hrs from Caroga lake. Here is a map.

http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&ct=NA&rsres=1&1ffi=&1l=&1g=&1pl=&1v=&1n=&2ffi=&2l=&2g=&2pl=&2v=&2n=&1pn=&1a=&1c=rochester&1s=ny&1z=&2pn=&2a=&2c=&2s=&2z=12032

There are many lakes to fish in the area, just send me a pm and I'll give you some info on them.

it was a fun day on the ice, but the lack of  a trout bite was  a little disappointing!
We will be back out tomorrow hoping to have a little better luck on laker's than we did
the brownies today!

All I can say is I wish we had a video camera! The wind was PHENOMINAL!
Just in case anyone needs to know... a wood pack basket acts like a sail when
it is windy... windy enough to send this 260 lb dude sailing down the ice 80-100 yards!
caroga has some pictures of our adventure soon to come!

I have decided that trout really do not want to cooperate with me this year only a few small
lakers landed today...

Well Started today off as A nice Calm Peacefull day at " The Redneck Resort". We did a little cooking, some shanty repairs, caught a few fish.. and then all HELL Broke Loose!!!!!

Shanty Repair Man At his Finest

A few of the Locals

The Biggest Fish of the day.. Caught By ColdBum

We heard a few Cries of help Coming from Outside the shanty.. Opened the door to see our good friend Jay and all of our tip-ups flying across the lake.

Tip-ups  Poping outta the holes!!

There Goes Coldbum..He got blown a good 100 yds down the lake..

While laying on my stomach trying to crawl back to the shanty I had a close incounter with this Cooking Pot... That nearly Missed me

The only way we could make it back Was to Crawl.. There was 1 1/2 inches of water on the ice and that did not make for a pleasent time... I've never seen such fierce winds.. Now I can Honestly Say that I know how that girl from the Wizard of Oz must have felt.... :-[.. Toatal loss for the day was 3 tip-ups, 4 bucket tops,1 cooking pot, a pocket knife that blew away, 1 hat, 2 jackets. I just hope the shanty is still standing tomorrow.

wow, what a crazy day on the lake at the "Redneck Resort", hope the wind calms down, and looks like there are going to be some luck guys finding tipups, would be great if the lucky finders, return the tip-ups, but not likely.  :-\ Great, crappie story.  8)
