Lots of shantys out there but no one talking. The guy at the convenience store said they were catching pike.
I'll be out as soon as my sled that I ordered comes in.

  Good luck

Ice is good but fishing has been really slow.

Caught some fish yesterday.  Ice is good most everywhere.  Lots of shacks out on the crappie grounds and in the narrows for pike.  Haven't heard any bad reports.

Made my first trip of the year out last night on the ATV. I thought I was breaking through the ice but it was only punching through the crust of a slush area. I'm not going to lie, I panicked a wee bit. Ice was 10" thick though
And it was beautiful out, warm, no wind, alnd no fish.

I drove to the Chassell park this morning to look at the conditions. It looked like there was quite a bit of slush. The snowmobile tracks heading out from the launch site had a lot of built up slush except for the main trail heading out to the north, (the humps). There were a few people coming off when I was there and they confirmed that it was very sloppy out there. I did not go out on the ice myself though.

Hit Chassell last night for a couple of hours. Wanted to try the new sled and shack up. Fish are in but very slow bite. Tried a few different spots and would say its going to be another week or 2 before its really good. If running a machine be careful of the slush pockets. I figured it was good everywhere, and I was wrong. I think I gave the guys that had the rental shack and auger out a good scare, when I went by and dropped into a pocket. Seems like a solid 2-3" on top then slush and water and another 10+ under that, also had a hard time getting the auger to go through with all the slush and water in the hole. Good luck and b safe.
