it was around 25 this mornin and i had a 5 gallon bucket full of water that had about a 1/2 inch of ice on it

During last weeks blackpowder season I actually saw skim ice on the very edges of a few lakes I fish through the ice, along with ice on the swampy areas nearby that stuck around most of the day.

That got the blood flowing for sure.

Just hope the farmers almanac is wrong about all that snow.  Won't make ice fishing any easier and certainly will be hard on the deer population.

30* @ 6:15 am.  Mid 50's this afternoon..  Last year on the 28th it started snowing at 5:30 am, By 4:30 pm it was snowing very hard. 28*...
6:30 am the 29th 8 to 10 inches of snow.

This time of year is just too much to handle. Thank god I have deer hunting to keep my mind off of the lack of ice.

With the nights into the 20s here in NY State last night and the shorter daylight, the lake temperatures have to be dropping.  Patience guys, towards the end of the month we'll be close to freeze up.  This is a good time to get all your gear in tip top shape, line changed ;) and batteries charged.

Was 26 Deg. F., 6 am today at Black Lake.
All the puddles and smaller ponds were "skimmed" with ice.

 31 degrees right now, had some Lake Effect snow showers yesterday! Steam coming off our waters, not even close!
