RT-9 2.0 Operator Error Issue Fixed!!!
« on: Feb 29, 2020, 06:26 AM »

Had a couple folks asking about the unit......

Well!.....

First, Thanks to Marcum Service for fixing me up!!!

Been very much enjoying the unit! Usually put it on top of my rod cases on my jet sled for walking hole hopping. A couple times a forgot to pick up the transducer before heading to the next hole but noticed it quickly... . (Yep, I know the sound a bell makes - "ding dong”). Anyway, a couple weeks ago I dragged the the transducer a good 100’ over bare rough ice. It wasn’t good.... Sonar signal all messed up. 'Ducer was busted. GPS and Mapping worked fine. So, I wrote Marcum for advice to see if the thought I needed a new transducer or needed to send the unit in. The next day, I got an email from them saying the were sending a new sonar kit, module and transducer. No charge! WOW and fast! Got it yesterday and seems to have corrected my SNAFU. Haven’t go to the ice yet to try it, Maybe this afternoon, apres clam.

I’ve used the unit quite a bit this year with great success and enjoyment. I am very glad for the easy fix and help form Marcum Service!!!

If you like having GPS, Maping, DVD recordable, with Graph, Flasher, Showdown modes, temperature reading and other stuff all on one screen, I DO reccomned this unit. I have the LX7 as well, which has become my backup and buddy machine. Good Stuff!!

Couple pics with some fish porn too!

I usually run screen 1/3 map/gps, 1/3 graph zoom and 1/3 vertical (Showdown) full water column. Don’t have a pc of that. I’ll post it another trip!  ;D :icefish:

How is the mapping on that unit. I’m extremely disappointed in my helix five with a lake master plus chip

Thanks for you feedback.   So, you prefer your RT-9 to your 7?  Is it a lot heavier than the 7, so would not be as portable for a hole hopper/walker?  Do you like the bigger screen more too?

The mapping is as good as Navionics. Some places aren’t accurate others are close. I haven’t see any app yet that is truly “ON”.
Any one know why that is? I’m guessing just a lot of bottom data to really get it right.

I prefer the 9, only because of the multiple functions all on one screen. I still have a lot to learn with the 9. Planning to incorporate the camera om it next year. The 7 is awesome as well!!!! Just like the mapping and GPS all at once.

Not bad hole hoping at all. I DO often put it on my rod cases which I usually open on top of my jet sled as a platform  and just tow  it around hole hoping,

which is how I broke the transducer by forgetting  to lift it.....

Specs on Marcum say 20# RT-9   15# LX7....  Don’t seem that heavy to me.....Keeps ya in shape!  ;D :icefish:

This is the base map on the 2.0??? What lake is pictured? I paid to have mine "upgraded to a 2.0" the only mapping I have is the great lakes and the ocean/sound.... see below

YEAH, Mine as upgraded as well. The picture on my screen is Junior Lake up here in Maine.

When I got the Navionics chip I found out the whole US is loaded on it. TOO BIG!!! I called or wrote the Navionics folks and found out I needed to specify an area. You can do states or even a single body of water. The later was a bit complex for me... hehe.... I opted to do most of the State of Maine, BUT If I was going to Onieda or The Finger Lakes, I can go to Navionics site and put that on the chip.

Having said all that, it sounds easy! It is, but not for me. I’d get ahold of Navionics again and or go to Youtube. I think, though, there is a tutorial on the Navioncs site as well.

So you have a navionics chip as well or this view is the "basemap" provided by marcum?

I have a navionics chip bit air was trying to see what all I was paying for through Marcum. With the chip out it only shows ocean and great lakes, neither of which I plan to ice fish.

Attached is a photo, on the right is RT9 with navionics chip. On the left is the RT9 2.0 as configured by marcum. I just struggling to see the value of paying for the upgrade.
