Grannis vote next week!
« on: Mar 14, 2007, 01:20 PM »
I just heard on the radio that the Senate is going to vote next week on Pete Grannis for D.E.C. commissioner. Please lets all keep on all our elected officials (NY Senate)and oppose this wolf in sheep's clothing!

Thanks much for the update.  I heard the vote was going to happen this week.  The petition was delivered in hard copy on Monday to the Senate EnCon Committee.  I am mailing another hard copy, along with a letter to the Governor tonight.  Keep on 'em, and get to the Governor, too.  He has opened the line of dialog through his announced initiatives.  Let's keep the pressure up!

As an FYI, here is what Don Sage has to say about this....

Mr. "Alex" Grannis's comments to the NYS Conservation Council are just further proof of his contempt for all people north of New York City. In his speech, he freely admitted that he introduced legislation to appease those on his little island and did not give a damn about how it affected the rest of New York State. He renounced his urban upbringing and indorsed living in one of the greatest environmental sewers and polluters of the world. He further went on to state that as DEC Commissioner he will continue to support more destruction of wildlife habitat, further decreases in all wildlife populations, no access for outdoor recreation (snowmobile, ATV, etc.), no forest management, and no action to protect our rivers, streams and lakes from the ongoing pollution from state owned lands. He further stated that while denying access to public/ state lands, he would press to further restrict the rights of private landowners, insisting they allow all outsiders full use and access of their property, regardless of their wishes.

"Alex" Grannis's comments on "open space" still ring of someone from NYC's Central Park who has no concept that open space requires the harvesting of timber, sylviculture, agriculture, controlled burns and active management of all state lands for wildlife habitat and vistas. But, what can one expect from someone who's sole concept of environmental air pollution is a person who releases a handful of balloons. "Alex" Grannis must be rejected as Commissioner of DEC and a trained, educated, qualified person appointed.
