Planning on going to Loon this weekend, never fished it before. Anyone been fishing it? Any tips or tricks?

I fished there a lot, always on the ice, from the mid 90's until about 2010. I stopped fishing there as the action seemed to go seriously downhill, I believe due to it being one of the earliest lakes to freeze every year and it started getting pounded heavily before the bigger lakes would freeze up.

There were / are some good perch to be caught, some over 12" once you find 20+ FOW. There was always an occasional pike or walleye caught also whenever we went, usually 1 pike and walleye per trip. I do not do much jigging, so my experience was that tipups worked with typical live bait, fatheads for perch and medium to large shiners for pike. Hope this helps.
