Weekend Plans (Volume II)
« on: Jan 16, 2008, 11:15 AM »
Well, here we go again… first weekend of optimism following a warm spell for the second time this ice season… so, “What’s everybody doing (if anything)?”

At this point, I’m looking at Sunday afternoon/evening and thinking Promised Land may be OK by then.

I think I'll paint my house!  With the accuracy of accu-weather being what it is I'll bet we get 2 70 degree days, breaking previously set 'high temp' records for this time of year.   :(

In all seriousness...I doubt I'll get out until the following weekend as many of the smaller ponds around me still only have skim (even with the colder days and nights that we are finally getting).  Soon...very soon though

What are you guys waiting for I have ice fished every weekend since 12/22 IN PA and live 5 miles from the Mason -Dixion line, its a good bet gas will not get cheaper. So if ya gotta drive, I drive between 80 to 150 miles each way this year to find safe ice. Last year I talked to Dave Genz about how far he will drive for ice and his reply was,"every Thanksgiving I ice fish the last one I drove 8hrs one way"

Iceman,

Did you miss a “1” in front of the “0”… or are you saying that there’s 8 inches in some spots and ZERO ICE in others?

There is a huge gathering at Lake Jean this Saturday that is where I will be then I am off to Hunters Lake on Sunday.
Why wait to spring time to fish when u have perfectly good ice to fish on.

I hope the ice is at lest 6'' up on the ham Sat. Because when the ice is thinner, up there, the fish see me coming and it can be hard to catch them ,knowing that there life is in jeopardy. ;D ;D ;D :icefish:
