Has anyone heard anything about ice fishing Derby's this year all being cancelled in ny. I have heard from a few boneheads that the state has banned all Derby's. Just wondering I guess

looks like similar bills have been introduced in the past this one has not been delivered yet  ...also stated ...
 DERBYS  TO  TAKE  WILDLIFE. EACH SUCH VIOLATION SHALL BE PUNISHABLE BY A
 FINE OF NOT LESS THAN FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS NOR MORE  THAN  TWO  THOUSAND
 DOLLARS.
   § 3. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
 ing the date on which it shall have become a law.

JMTCW: If you look on the derby / tournament page on here, there are several posting. I too got the Walleye Challenge mailing and it included the annual GSLFF Tournament held on the same lake, same day. On line you can sign up for the Northern Challenge on Simonds Pond. There are also two for the whole weekend, one on East / West Caroga and the other is on the Greater Sacandaga. With all of these tournaments being advertised, I would guess that nothing has been canceled.

So far the ban is hunting only and not fishing related.  Give Queen Hochul time and she will ban fishing tourneys too.

I dont think that we will see fishing tourney bans. The state loves the bassmaster / big bass tourneys. Big $$ involved.
