Set my first trap of the season this past weekend (correction….actually second, first trout/salmon trap.) Tied into my biggest Salmon, beating my prior biggest by 6-7 inches. Rough measurement was 24-25". This was the sturdiest Salmon I've ever seen. Couldn’t capture the girth on photo, or video. Was eating well. Going to be spending more time targeting these fish. Always caught a few here and there, but never was all that good a catching them. This one has me "hooked." Also tied into a few Lake Trout jigging. Hope you all are catching a few out there!!

congrats. nice one. would have been even more fun on a jig rod. saw a cops wife land a 9lber on a white tube on long about 10 yrs ago on 8lb. test. thought it was going to burn her drag out.

Nice fish! Where’d you catch it?! 🙄😆 my PB salmon is 26”. Doubt I’ll ever break that.

Thanks fellas!! Could only image what that would be like on a jig rod!! Was hard enough hand lining it in.

Everyone has their favorite species to target, but to me, that kind of fish (or a large brown) is the best it gets. Great work overcoming a gear malfunction to land a beast!

Crappie vids are the worse tho. They make people go crazy!! I get 10-12 messages every crappie vid.

Thats because Crappies and Yellow perch are better eating than Salmon.

Beautiful chromer. Ive never broken 26" but ive gotten a handful of between 25-26". Such a fun fight and not much better tasting either. Good friend of mine caught a 27" this year that must have been pushing 10 pounds (scale got wet and wasnt reading unfortunately). Have never seen a fish with such a fat belly and it was loaded with eggs.
