Is the pond accessible and how is the fishing? Never been there and want to try it tomorrow.

Did a morning fish since I can go in the evenings. Cold but no wind. You need a good 4x4 to get in most of the way. Slushy overflow on the pond. Must of got lucky because I walked about halfway to the shelter and drilled a couple holes. Got bites right away and landed enough to eat. The perch is 11" the gills were 8-9".

Got on the pond this morning before going to work. Cloudy and snowy. Fish must be getting hungry again as the bite was good til the sun came out. All bluegill and one pumpkin seed. Still a lot of ice and road is icy in spots.

that depends on when you went. I think I only hit it once or possibly twice last year. It's a bit of a drive for me so I don't go as much as I like.  ;D

That wasn't me. I didn't go until mid June and wasn't catching much. Very unusual as I usually do good there with the fly rod.

Al, where don't you fish? Lol. Never tried this spot but might have to sometime. I was in WP on the reservoir north of the islands today. Slow day but I got a nice perch and one barely legal eye. Landed a couple huge suckers and a short eye also

Hey at least you got a legal sized one. All mine have been just under size. You should have joined us Saturday on Long Pond for the derby.

They don't list it. It's put on by a bar in Smithville. Have to wait until next year now. There was one the week before on Balsom Pond by another bar.

if you avoid it because of crowds there's nothing to worry about. There's only a few people that are in it and the lake is plenty big enough to get away from others

Plenty of parking on rt 41. Someone actually drove their car out on Long Pond during the derby. Had it out there the entire time. yikes.

Anyone been on the pond lately? Had decent luck last year, fished it earlier this year but didn't catch much. The road should be open with the lack of snow.

Tried the same thing as last year in the same area. Set up before daylight and fish about 45 min after. An old farmer used to fish before milking his cows in the mornings. He swore he caught his biggest bluegills like that.

I've avoided fish anything local for a month.

Terrible! Even more so because it was preventable. Unfortunately, the ice has been dangerous around here all winter- especially lately. No fish is worth the chance in my book. Condolences to his family and friends

My local pond definitely sad but no matter how much people warn others people will always do what they want with no regard to their families the ice was never good this year on that pond and another thing it did was probably result in the gate being closed in the winter
