Do a search for MacCoupler in google. You can find it for $16.50 online. So now if you have a big tank you can fill up the little ones anytime you want. Still save money on buying quantity the refill you small tanks. I only use 1 or 2 in a day but take 3 just in case. You do want to make sure your threads are good and that you get a good seal. If your small tanks are beat up you want to make sure you replace them. Just my $.02.

The Buddy Heater can be used as a cooker.
It's possible to make a rack over the vents on top to cook.
It's also possible to lay it on its back to cook.
But, to lay it on its back, you must first disconnect the tip-over switch, which you should never do.
There is and old post, which I can't find and I looked long, that told photo by photo how to disconnect the switch, which you should never do.

I tried using the black 5 foot hose assembly on a new 5lb bottle hooked up to my buddy heater, but I did not use a filter.  Now the heater burns but doesn't put out as much heat as it does when using the 1lb bottle.Could the line be clogged now? Do I need to use a filter? Any sugestions? Also has any tried using the Mr. Heater adapter for refilling the 1lb bottles. Thanks.

It is a good idea to use the filter, it sounds like something is plugged up. My big buddy runs so much better now that I'm running it on a bigger tank, it lasts a lot longer and the pilot doesn't blow out any more !

With the black hose you do need to use the fuel filter or it can send gunk into your heater and foul it out. Only black hose you don't need the filter on is the 12' hose with quick disconnect fitting as it has a built in regulator on the tank side of the hose.

you are supposed to use a filter for bulk tanks.

i use the filling adapter and it works good for me

search "little green bombs" for a thread on the coupler

Thanks for the help. I'll try to find the 12' hose with the regulator. I found that the hose that I was using got very stiff in the cold weather are all the hoses that way, or are some better than others.
