Word on the street is that someone was on Hauser today.  We checked it sunday and it was barely 3".  More sack than I have.  It should be 4" in a couple days.

Guy told me as he walked onto Hauser at the boat launch yesterday afternoon that there is 3 inches of ice.  The other end had a patch of open water and a few large sacked fishers near a loose dock opposite the bank fishing spot.  DNF

lower twin had 4" last Friday and growing. I would imagine you have at least 5" by now. I stopped by on my way home from freeman Saturday morning and there was 20 trucks parked along the golf course.

How about any word on Blue or Freeman Lake for decent ice?  Cocolalla is frozen but not sure its thick enough yet at the north end.  I am itching to go but nowhere to go!

Haven’t checked Blue but Bullpine was there last Thursday and the access channel was dicey.  Since then it’s been cold enough that I would bet it is ready again.  A couple of mornings of 1 degree this last weekend should have it good to go

Made out to Blue Lake this afternoon.  Good ice up to 6" thick with no visible open water anywhere.  Good ice throughout the canal area from the parking lot to the lake.  Caught only four perch but they were all 9+".  Maggots and crawler pieces.  About 75 yds straight out from launch. Lots of weeds which is good but could not fine the true edge of the weed into deep water.  I am guessing it is better over at the base of the rocks but was not feeling like walking all that way out there alone.

Fished Hauser Tues and ice was good a boat launch end of lake. Solid 3 to 4 inches.  No blue gills, but landed a nice bass and a big perch in 10 feet of water.  Did not go out past 20 feet of water as I was thinking the ice might be thinner out farther.  Haven't seen anyone post about safe ice on the chains yet? Anyone been up around Cave or Rose?

Drilled a hole at the public ramp Fernan(near I-90), 2.5 inches. This was only a few feet from shore. Not enough for me.

Fernan won't freeze well without a lot colder weather.  That's why I am guessing the chains are not icing well.  Anyone been up the  chain lakes?

The chains are kinda of iced over, not sure on thickness, it doesn't look like good ice. Temps at night have not been getting as cold as forecast has been saying they should. I will make a run this weekend to check and report back.

Fished Jewel in Bonner county today. 9 inches ice with 2.5" new snow, no slush. caught a few small large-mouth bass. Man was it foggy up there.

Drove by Kelso, dozen folks fishing, was told there was about 8".

Cocolalla was froze over with some wet looking cracks, did't go out on it so not sure of the depth.

Round Lake had some open water on the far side but there were a few folks fishing it, not sure of the depth.

SPOKANE VALLEY MAN FALLS THROUGH ICE ON CHAIN LAKES AND DIES, PROBABLY OF EXPOSURE BECAUSE HE WAS ALONE AND COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE HOLE.  I GUESS THAT SAYS IT ALL AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE CHAINS HAVE SAFE ICE.  THIS IS A DANGEROUS YEAR AS WE HAVE ONLY HAD A FEW DAYS OF AVERAGE TO BELOW AVERAGE LOW TEMPS, ALMOST ALL LOW TEMPS FOR MONTH ABOVE AVERAGE.

Busy day on mirror today. Managed some Kokanee.  Curious how y’all prepare them? as they are pretty small.  Ice was 6” where I fished.  Probably go out on upper or lower twin tomorrow if I can
