The perch on lower twin are small.  I see crappie on fish finder about 20 feet.  Usually the perch crowd them out.  I caught them out next to the rocks in the deep water.   Did you see the picture of the new state record.  Is is posted in  idaho section.  Use glow jigs and charge them up often.

We've got to follow him.

Only problem with that is, we can't find him.      >:D ;)2 :roflmao:

But there is a clue in that photo of gills & crappie, it's a N. ID news paper.    :o

Hauser lake in Idaho.

If it's ND ice it's Smishek lake.

Lower twin is flooded with  inches of water and slush.  Went to granite and it had six inches water at launch.  Then  went to kelso and it was great on top.  Little slush but has snow on it still.  Ice is 12 plus inches.

What species of fish are in Kelso?  Drove by Hauser and it was flooded and a rock near the shore had popped a hole that water on top of ice was draining into.  Will be open water soon.  I put my stuff away.

Trout at Spring Valley are still hitting it as easily as ever... Ice appeared to be stable when I stepped off the dock, but I wasn't taking any chances out there alone so I fished through holes off the dock.
This weekend I hit up open water on a little mud hole near Lewiston and pulled in some nice sized bullheads with my lady.

Beandip, that's a great way to transition from the ice to open water.  Good job.

Yesterday, I ventured out on to the ice at Spring Valley with a couple of other gentlemen who went out ahead and check the ice... it was sketchy, but appeared to be stable with maybe 4-5 inches of solid ice underneath a few inches of soft stuff.  I am not advocating going out there right now, especially if you are alone, but it can be done still, just not sure for how much longer.  My guess is this is the last week.  The trout were hitting fairly consistently and a report from the far side of the res was that the bluegill/crappie were slow.

Does anyone know if there is open water on Fernan yet?  I will be in the cda/post falls area this weekend and I was hoping to venture out that way for some channel cat action from the bank in open water... I don't think we'll chance the ice there at this point. Any info would be much appreciated!

Right now there is open water near the docks on both the east end and south end of the lake but most of the lake still has a sheet of rotten ice over it.  It's going pretty fast though.  The water is a bit stained from the runoff.

It's in the teens. Maybe we will be fishing next week! Wait a minute I've got to shoot a deer first.
