Sturgeon Lake
« on: Dec 10, 2011, 02:51 PM »
can anyone help me with information about ice fishing on this lake. I am looking for good areas as well as unsafe spots on the ice if any. I am new to the area and looking for some good perch and pike and walleye fishing. Would anyone know if a guy could go out a ways from the boat launch at the campground and have any luck catching. Please let me know any info you might have about ice fishing on this lake. If you have any ice updates please let me know that as well.

sturg is pretty slow besides the odd hammer handle biting your line off... there should be enough ice to walk a ways on, but i'd still drill holes and check the ice before venturing too far into the middle

haha jackhammer just doesn't know the spots...the trick at sturgeon is to use nets.

honestly though i've caught a few perch just out from the beach and a few other spots W of there.  you could always park on the road and haul through the bush, i've done it when there was too much snow to drive on.  have to move lots to find the fish, flasher helps.  good luck, let us know if you get anything.
