Learned a very valuable lesson today.

Forgot the damn bait.  Had a few power bait items but fish didn't go for it.  Oh well the 1.5 hour drive there was great.

Been there, done that.  Luckily for me there was a bait shop 1-1/2 miles from the lake - fish on.

Been there. Luckily I had some Maki microplastics, they saved the day. Caught small perch for pike bait and used perch eyes to catch more perch.

WHEW !   You had me ready to pray for you. Glad all is well.

Bait isn't a life or death situation, it's much more important than that.      ;)2 :roflmao:

I would rather get a little wet then do that again.  Nearest place would have been 30 miles away. Tried to get the Power bait to work until I at least caught one fish to use some guts for bait but that never happened.  We had several bite but nothing wanted to commit. On another note I have an Oil pan 3 1/2" off the ground made of Aluminum and hit a large rock on the trip over there. Luckily it was a sand stone type rock and broke into pieces.  I checked it right afterwards and didn't see anything leaking. Got home and shined a flashlight under there. It dented the pan slightly.  The road I take over there isn't used much. 51 Miles to the dam, and only saw one car going the opposite way. Glad I didn't have to hike out. no cell service for my wife's phone either.

Yikes lefty. That's even more terrifying.

I've seen those soft pans part and dump two quarts in a mile.

May the Angles of Mercy be with you.     ;)2 :angel

Almost the same here, drove an hour to fish with my boat got there and realized I forgot the boat keys. I fished around the boat landing with the trolling motor. Didn’t catch much.

That's why I have a boat checklist by my front door. Keys, life jackets, mixed gas, batteries charged, etc, etc. I forgot my box of spoons once...wasn't on the list.

I don’t remember why the keys were not in the boat, I normally never take them out of the boat.

Never forgot the bait, but forgot the hole scoop. Using a minnow net takes forever.

I've forgotten the boat as well. A buddy and I were planning on fishing together, we both have boats, but were fishing closer to my house/work. He had been taking his newer boat out recently. When we talked on the phone I missed the part where I was going to be bringing my boat that day. We went stream fishing instead.

I did haul 2 ATV's up on the mountain one day and when I got out to take them off the trailer I realized I forgot the ATV keys. This kind of stuff worries me now that I am 65 and won't get any younger.

I did that. Used my (gloved) hand instead and it ended up cutting my trip short. Too cold to fish without gloves, and when an inch of ice built up on my glove, I couldnt turn the reel.

once borrowed a rowboat from friends very early in the morning, drove about an hour to Bashakill Marsh in upstate NY.  as we were launching the boat just before sunrise we realized the last time my friend used it he pulled the drain plug but DID NOT replace it!  With little to no shore fishing opportunities available it was a long round trip to the nearest Walmart for a $5 replacement.  Some lessons must be learned the hard way, check before leaving.

DITTO

Going deer hunting, I was stopped for speeding. The officer asked for my license - NO WALLET. I got the ticket without any other hassles. Then proceeded to turn around to home, about 20 mi. Deer camp was about 250 mi., with no money, licenses - nothing. I thanked the officer for stopping me. He must have thought I was nuts.

I am surprised that hasn't been brought up yet, because I know we have all forgotten the paddles/oars before.

Waxies were scarce here a few seasons ago. I stopped and bought a couple of raw jumbo shrimp at the meat counter and used chunks of them instead. Worked great!

another time, I went duck hunting and when I got there, found out that I left the gun at home. 25 min back home and 25 min back to the marsh and my buddies are done shooting and on their way out. went out anyways and still got 2 birds.
