Howdy folks! Just wanted to introduce myself, Ive lurked for a while on here and figured I might as well join in the fun! Ive been in Wyoming almost 3 years now, moved from Georgia, so ice fishing was something very new to me. Anyways, met a friend who was glad to take me along my first winter here and I've been hooked ever since! I've been into fishing my entire life and recently got into fly fishing and fly tying as well. Here lately I've been tying up some buck tail and marabou jigs I hope to try out on the ice pretty soon. Looks like I may be headed for the first ice outing of the year this weekend, so I'll be sure to post up a report when I get back. I live in SE Wyoming and have mainly fished the Laramie plains lakes and a few in the Laramie Range. I appreciate all the great advice yall have posted here in the past, its helped me out quite a bit!

hello welcome good site good ice fishing in this end of state do you like cold weather?

Hello, just wanted to introduce myself! I moved to Wyoming about 4 years ago from northern Minnesota where I was an avid ice fisherman. I really didn't take advantage of the ice fishing Wyoming has to offer until last year, hitting mainly Seminoe with decent success. This year I'd really like to expand my range and truly delve into the ice fishing culture here in Wyoming and travel to different lakes across the state. I'm looking forward to being a member of this community and constantly learning about the ice fishing opportunities with the like minded individuals on this site. Thanks!
-
Welcome aboard.
-
Welcome. I have a ton of relatives in northern Minnesota. I miss the fishing out there.
-
Lots of newbies coming out. Guess I will join them. Moved to southwest Wyoming about a year ago. Looking forward to the season. Won't be long now.
-
You and I both! It's hard to beat up there.
-
Welcome to the shanty!
-
Thanks
For Those that fish sulpher creek. I'm thinking by next weekend it will be good to go. I did a drive by this morning. It was pretty much capped I didn't go down and measure the ice but it didn't appear very thick so far
-
What were you hitting through the ice over at seminoe 218? I frequent the lake with dirtbikes and atvs in summer but don't fish it. Wanting to make a long weekend on the ice sometime in january over there.

Sickchopper, We did pretty well last year with jigging raps and swedish pimples in shallow water, anywhere from 6-10 ft for rainbows. No huge ones but some of decent size. I've only ice fished the west side, near the banshee chute and boat club.
-
I've heard the walleyes will bight right at dusk(through the ice), right where you are talking about 218. Gonna give it a whirl, got a flasher this year see if I can make heads or tails or em down there.
-
Welcome to the forum 218.
-
WELCOME TO THE FORM. YOU GET INFO
-
Thanks for the welcomes everybody. Sick hopper you'll have to let me know how you do or when you're coming up, I wouldn't mind pulling a few eyes up. I fish them over by the medicine now during the summer but haven't really taken a serious stab at em there through the ice.
-
Welcome, I've been in Rawlins for a couple years now, maybe we will be able to meet a time or two this season.
-
Welcome. New to this myself. From Rawlins but don't get to Seminoe often. The few times I have only picked up a few rainbows then got blown off the ice.
-
Welcome. This is a great place to learn and share.
-
Have fun be safe and warm
-
Thanks for the welcome

There is also a Meet up/Invite thread (http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=160101.msg1568154#msg1568154) you may post in. Enjoy the Ice Shanty and have a great season!

New member here. I live in Rock Springs but previously in Nebraska so the Flaming Gorge is a whole new ball game for me. Love it though!!
-
Good times are ahead. Hopefully some good weather also. Fish on!
-
Had a hiatus from hardwater the past couple years. But I'm back for some fun this season.
1. Buffalo area
2. Anything but trout is my target
3. Tongue River Res is my favorite for open water with Keyhole a close 2nd. Behind that is Healy and Buffalo Wetlands Pond with Lake Desmet pulling a long long long way back 5th place.
-
I am also new to the site. Currently stuck in the Jackson area and must travel frequently to fish for real fish. I most often fish Jackson lake and the wind river drainage. Looking forward to sharing info and some good times this ice season!
-
Well hello my fellow fisher friends as to the reason I am doing this is because I am new to the site and forum. I have lived in Wyoming now for 16 years and absolutely enjoy all the recreational activities Wyoming has to offer especially the fishing and hunting. I am an avid fisherman open water and hard water. I have traveled all over the states of Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Montana, and the Dakotas to explore different lakes and attend fishing derbys and tournaments. For the most part you will most likely find me fishing the southern half of the state with my lovely wife. We are usually out and about in my white Silverado.

Hey Guys, thought I would introduce myself. Moved to Pinedale in August of this year from Michigan. I did a lot of fishing there, especially for steelhead and trout, though I did a lot of ice fishing as well when I was a bit younger. I've loved Wyoming so far, had a great Fall fishing the rivers and lakes around Pinedale. With winter setting in and the cabin fever already starting to creep in, am thinking this is the year to get back into ice fishing again! Bit of a different game out here compared to Michigan where live bait and tip ups were a big part of what we did in my old home town of Cadillac. Hoping to get some ideas here and share what I can with the board about the area.
-
Been fishing Wyo Ice for years. Just thought it was time to join the group. A lot of my buddies are on here and the site has a lot of really good information. The season is just starting and I can't wait to get on the ice this weekend.

Hello! Been here in Wyoming for my 3rd winter after moving from N.C.. It's been a few years sense I have ice fished out here and that was at Flaming Gorge for Lake Trout and had a blast until the ice started cracking and popping. The family got me a hand auger and a rod for Christmas so I plan on putting them to use soon. Going to try go over and fish Montpelier this weekend maybe, seeing how I am close and haven't caught a perch in years.
-
Welcome to the Shanty Grendel Shooter! The Gorge lakers are on my bucket list if I can ever get down there! ;D

Hi Folks,
Long time fisherman but pretty new to the ice fishing thing. Flyfishing is a passion and has been for a while. Getting geared up for hardwater fishing this year but with the warm and wind here lately, I may be too late for this season! I hope not though. Lived in Cheyenne for 39 years, went to Idaho for a year and a half and recently moved back to good ol' Wyo to Wheatland. Looking forward to learning from the 'pro's' in the area!
-
Welcome to the Shanty flycefisher! I was in Guernsey yesterday and it was 56 degrees! Ya better hurry and get onto some ice soon! ;D

New to the form looking for good fishing information around the Cheyenne area new to ice fishing have a 7 year old son wanting to catch perch
Sloans lake in frontier park of cheyenne holds perch and surprisingly big broodstock rainbow trout, 20+ inches. Absaraka in cheyenne is also a fun productive panfish lake... Granite reservoir in curt gowdy state park also has a decent perch population and lots of stocker sized trout.

Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself as i just joined site. I didnt even know about this site but friend mentioned so figured i would check it out. Its so hard to find info about wyoming ice and i am fairly new to state so i have huge learning curve. Ice fished thru highschool then joined military and didnt touch a short rod till last winter(24year break) so been re learning and getting gear. Spent last year fishing mostly the sunshines (live in cody) and few other less often. Fish almost always alone or with 10yr old daughter so not a thin ice guy. I want to fish the gorge this year, never been down that way so any advice is great. Always looking for suggestions on new lakes or species...**censored** is a burbot? Lol. looks like a snakehead or bowfin to me but heard they eat good and are fun to catch so gonna have to to try it this year. Look forward to sharing info...
-
Welcome to the Shanty !!!
Thank you for your service as well !!!
Lots of really good guys on here that are willing to help a guy.

Hi folks. Found this forum today while searching the web for conditions reports. But wow! What an awesome deal going on here. Glad to be here! I feel like I already owe a thank you for just what I’ve seen by lurking before signing up.
I’ve ice fished occasionally for the past few years, but I’m really gearing up to be serious about it this winter. Super excited to get after it!
-
Welcome guys. As mentioned in a couple
Other threads, you need 3 posts to see the “reports and conditions” page which is just above “Wyoming ice fishing” on the main forum board.
Crow, send me a PM when you’re thinking about coming to the gorge. It’s my home water and I’ll try to give you the most recent report!
-
Thanks for warm welcome guys! Its nice to have some resources like this site and good people on it as we all know info in this state is always limited. PO, i will get a hold of you before heading down that way. Planning on heading down 2nd week of jan i think. Put a order in last night for bunch of buckshots, glow jigs and some tubes and powergrubs etc, ready to get after them!
-
Howdy all,
New here, finally made a login and figured I'd check in.
Mostly fish Hattie and Pathfinder.
Heading out after Christmas so fingers crossed for some thick ice and calm winds.
-
Welcome all the new folks! Just remember to add a little info every now and then, that how all this works, learning from each other.
-
New guys!!! It helps out a lot to put your local water/town where your from. Lot of info and friendships of fishing. If your a Rocksprings/ Greenriver townie. I ask hows the gorge or ask for local info. If your from Gillette. I'll give you as much Intel I can on keyhole plus close water as i can. It becomes a useful site to help out you fellow fisherman. Heck most of the time I end up fishing with the individual I asked a question about there local waters. Welcome to iceshanty and enjoy.
-
Thanks for the post, enjoy ice fishing in the Laramie area but always up for new spots. Great site, thanks!
-
WELCOME ABOARD ENJOY SAFTEY FIRST
-
Welcome to all the new members!! I have lived in Cheyenne for 31 years fishing most of the lakes/reservoirs in the eastern part of the state. I also have a house in Glendo and spend considerable more time there than other lakes. Being from Minnesota originally I miss winter and try to get as much ice fishing in as I can in this mild climate. I escape to "real winter" very January and fish the Mobridge tournament in SD and sneak back to Wyoming and fish the Saratoga tournament. Ice tends to go on late here and come off early. Sometimes we get to fish first ice several times throughout the season!! Please be safe out there! Usually fishing out of a big Blue Otter hub, feel free to stop on over. Drive White Ram 3500 License plate 2 F1SH

Great to have the new members swinging through! Jump in where you can and help others have a great ice season!

Hello fellow fisherman, I’m Jason. Never posted on the site before, but I’ve scanned it for ice conditions and fish pics for a couple of years. I mainly fish Fontenelle and the Gorge. Headed up to fontenelle today to check a couple honey holes and jig the river for big hungry browns. Anyhow, great site. Keep it up.

What happened to getting information on a lake of your choosing?
On the forum index page/home page/whatever you want to call it, instead of hitting “Ice Fishing Wyoming”. Click “Wyoming Reports/Conditions Board” . That’s where all the lakes are
-
First post on here , but have been lurking for awhile. Im a old guy and live in Alpine, so I probably fish Idaho more then Wyoming. I fish Palisades and Jackson Lake but would to branch out to the east for some walleye and perch and would like to try Flaming Gouge.
Im not a very good fisherman, but not smart enough to quit. So hopefully will pick up some knowledge on this site.
