Should i tie directly to the lure or use a snap swivel?

Snap swivel imo, or at least a barrel swivel above.  :tipup:

Yeah that was my second thought too. Never used them before but got a few mini airplanes today in trade and ive heard of alot of folks catchng perch on em

At the bare minimum a snap swivel to the lure.  However the preffered method would be to tie on a swivel about a foot or two above those lures.  It would help to reduce foul hooking your line.  Only that I would hardly ever foul hook my snap swivel but once in a blue moon.
