Mosquito Lake
« on: Dec 12, 2008, 07:03 PM »
Mosquito is most of the way locked all but about a 3/4 mile stretch of the south end as of Thursday Dec 11. It is all skim ice maybee 1-1/2 inches thick but building. Won't be long now. So get ready. If anyone wants to join me this season let me know.

Keep us posted, I've never fished there, but would like to go with someone who knows the lake. I'm about 2 hours away in Vermilion.

Fishmaster from OGF, said he was on the northend ice sunday. Said there is open water but he went out 300 yds and ice was 4" thick.  Didn't say if he caught fish or not.

Was only 3 inches yesterday and with the rain it looks as if it may be shot until another cold snap. Will check the lake sometime tomorrow and keep all posted of what I know.

Talked to a few guys off of 305. Said that there was about 4 inches so it looks like it will be a go this weekend for those interested. Don't know about the rest of the lake but it looks as if it will only get better with the weather forcast.

Eyepod, what you catch? Eyes or Crappies? Fished off of 305 and everything was SMALL. Perch, crappie, and walleye. Fishing was poor! Ice about 4in. With all the snow today I'm not sure how many will be out there on the lake this weekend. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to the "big" pond this year. Hopefully the conditions will get right for us this year.

we fished the causeway on the north end yesterday and close to the causeway had lots of ice im guessing 8 inches or so and the farther out you went the thinner it got.  we didnt get any fish but had a great time...

Fished today with decent results. Limit of walleye. Very early bite though. Caught fish anywhere from 20fow to 8fow. Went out of 305 ramp. Ice about 6in.

Fished the North end today with about a 100 other guys. What a site. Thought I was  up at Catawba state park on a Saturday morning. No luck for me but did see a few eyes caught. Probably a better bite during the week cause with only about 6fow and all that traffic I'm sure there were some spooky fish. Throw in the power augers too! :embarassed:
