Does it turn counter clockwise? Is it white and green???

If is, you can modify a Jiffy bit to work with it. Jiffy augers are the only one of the major 5 auger companies that turn counter clockwise.

I think the Nordic Star was made in Menomonee Falls, WI are very long time ago and they are no longer in the Ice Drill business.

So you are looking to out a 6" Auger on it?  You might be cheaper off in the long run just buying a new complete unit.

Man the thing runs like a top drills great i think i've had it for 10 years i'll just keep using the 10 inch thats on it rather then buy another. Just wanted a 6 inch for when i went gill or perch fish'n Thanks for the info

ha ha im digging up an old post!!! i just got a nordic star auger. runs great!!!! doesnt cut so good though. i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get replacement blades for it?

Why don't ya sharpen the old blades?

they're only gonna take so much sharpening till they are shot though.

are the blades the same as jiffy?  single chipper blade??  you could probably fit blades from another manufacturer on there.

it looks very similar to jiffy blades. yea it is a single blade and is serrated. it also has that stupid guide on the auger. not sure what its called but it looks like a spear head.

Just take 'em off and into a store that sells replacement blades to compare them. Pretty simple.

In the last thirty years I have owned two Jiffy augers. I have never bought a spare blade and it takes about fifteen minutes to take the blade off and sharpen it on a whet stone. I can't imagine sharpening a chipper blade enough to need a replacement.

The ice king augers are still a great auger and run well with a little maintence ! The spearhead is actually the center point and if it loses its edge, it will cause the auger to cut poorly ! If you aren't comfortable sharpening it yourself, most areas in the ice belt have shops that offer auger bit sharpening, that Nordic star will be an ice eating machine when sharpened properly !! Just my .02, good luck !

i did give the blades some sharpening and it cuts pretty good!!! the auger it self like to die suddenly now. think i just need to go through the carb and it will be a sweet machine!!! minus its weight

You can order carb rebuild kits for it thru www.partstree.com  It would be well worth it, last of the Genuine Made in the USA Augers, Not a single piece of chink chong fenderhead plastic on it anywhere !

this is true!!!! i can tell there is no plastic on it when i have to drag it in my sled or carry it on my shoulder!! but i love this thing, i get so many looks when people see me getting ready to drill a hole or 6. thing cuts just as fast as the new augers....when it stays running. lol

Just wondering if u got anywhere with this I have one too, it was given to me. Was wondering if Its plausible to get a new lower half if any new company's have one that will connect.

Never did. Still have it....doesn't run well at the moment though
