Think tomorrow will still be fishable? Smaller lakes like big pond?

I was on BP last sat. I would say you will probably be good based on the ten inches I had then. Of course be careful. Maybe stay away from the creeks in the back.

Decided to stay at SWB, moved to west bank of lake, had the same results...Zilch.
Gravity Pilot, great meeting you today, hope you have a good outing if you decide to go north.
As for me I think my season is over. Heading to south Jersey tomorrow to hit the little white ball around.
Good luck to everyone that will get a few more outings in. Stay safe and tight lines to all. :)

Went from solid ice and snow to water and slush on top in a matter of 3 or 4 hours. I think you might be able to sneak in one last trip tomorrow, but be careful. Shorelines around SWB are starting to soften, and the ice was very slightly bubbling. Warm weather + wind = no good.

Well I never have luck on swb anyway so I'll avoid it for "safetey" reasons lol. I was thinking either big pond or waneta. Only small lakes that I know in the area that should produce.

I'll be on big pond hopefully (given ice conditions) tomorrow. If anyone wants to join shoot me a pm. I have no service in that area, Ill be in the silver dodge caliber. With a milf sticker (man I love fishing) on the rear windshield. Probably won't be far from the car, close to shoreline

Anyone out on swb today? I was on there yesterday and ice was messy but still seemed pretty solid. Thinking about making a drive up today if the ice is still ok.

I drove by yesterday and there were at least 30 guys I could see out there. I doubt much changed from yesterday to today other than it got slushy on top.

After the temps we get this week all bets will be off for safe ice next weekend though.
If I agreed with you we would both be wrong!

Thanks. Couldn't make it out there today. Did really well on Friday in the wind. Iced over 30 crappie. Smallest one was 12 inches and the largest was just under 14 inches. Average was about 13 inches. Was trying to post pictures but couldn't get it to work. Went there again Saturday starting around the same spot I did well on Friday and only caught 5 of them in a full day. 2 decent sized at 12 inches and the other 3 were about 9 inches. Must have just hit the school at the right time Friday and lucked out when I started drilling some holes and seeing my flasher lit up. How is the open water fishing there?

Hit swb and superior fri and sat. 10" of ice shoreline slush was bad at superior. Did pretty well had 20 crappies, 15 perch, few pickerel and a couple nice bass. One went 6 lbs.

true report on swb.. walked on ice 1030.am got into a hole jigged up 7 all throw back crappies.. moved around got two three more all around 25 ft radius.. decided to move with the breeze and blue sky ..nothing for hrs.. tried finding channel beds in the cove.. it was tough..finally sunset started up again..some nice but most throwbacks.. all in all after it got dark i kept five decent crappie.. nothing else but a few solid pumpkinseeds and tiny yellows..be out tomorrow again.. the tape don't lie.. i had 12 in. solid ice  nothing under 10 in.. no heavy slush shoreline was fine walking in. but it was melting today! just know plenty safe yet..seen one guy out there around noon. I had the whole lake to myself.. those five made a bowl of fillets for a fry tomorrow.. wierd thing is no walleye or even bass,,just them crappies as it was this spot 5th time at least in this spot this ice season..wish the walleyes were around! but nothing like years ago for sure

it should still be plenty safe from public ramp..i entered private entry and walked a sled towards  the marinas. I hope to try out in the middle by the point..just too many fish there but i know spots out there they all miss ..hope i can get there tomorrow if the ice isn't too much thinner out that way..remember to wear safety gear in case  it goes from10in. solid to 2 inches overnight lol

for those not sure about how the swb ice is.. i walked out and off the shoreline by the big marinas which are private..i have no idea how the public ramp shoreline access looks like but if you can walk off it tomorrow,,should have bo problem with the lk ice which i bet is over 8 inches thick that way.. i might have 2 more inches thicker 10 to 12 inches where i fished all day today. i have a red sled auger,,i;ll be out there tomrorw

Thanks dinks. Let us know how it goes. Today doesn't look too warm so hopefully the ice is the same as yesterday. If it's still a solid 8 below slop I might take a ride up late afternoon and fish tonight for one last time before its all gone. Good luck and be safe.

SHORELINE WAS SPUD through the hole first stab where we would normally quad out so we didn't have plywood  and decided to walk and  sled.. once off the shoreline it is plenty safe ,,a the tape cuttting fresh holes it is still 12 in. solid .. hardly any melt on top today with the sun and wind it was tough..waxworms rapala perch jig hardly impressed any few lookers we found.. must of lazered over 50 holes and only about a dozen crappie ..no bass yellows ey just a few decent crappies i ate tonight..one was 12 in. nice size..most the big ones are bit smaller but big enough to fillet. I had two full days on swb morning to sun down and can't believe where i use to nail eye didn't produce. the one cove we slaughtered them past month or so wasn't much good yesterday was better than today.. the thing about these deep reservoirs is if the fish move they aren't there on the graph getting the few we seen today was tough getting them. So the birdblue sky ..fed three eagles a bag of cuts ..that was cool watching..they finished the carcasses i bagged the last night.. albeit had a great time ..doubt next time but hoping another freeze for this weekend.

I think the crappies are bigger this season  and when you get into them it can be real fun..but it is a big deep impoundment and like today i tried everywhere we normally expect decent fishing but it was a sunny no go for the most part.. the north coves around the private marinas  had 12 in at the tape and from there  sledding towards the main  10 inches out where everybody fishes at swb the fork point ..doubt the public ramp can be any safer unless it refreezes after  this heavy thaw.. lk ice aint thawing as much as what is coming into from streams. that means water shorelines for the days ahead..so just be safe around these deep shorelines.

Be carefull with remains on ice. not that I care, but it is unlawful

Yes..well aware of the carcass disposal regs.but know three eagles ate everything in minutes..also I doubt any officer would or could fine me with a bucket of  fish carcasses that is not unlawful..not that I don't care but some laws are made to be broken.. Happy the eagles ate well instead of disease rats  at the dumps ..any how ..very crazy forecast 60s in February? Going to jig a bit and leave today ..be safe and enjoy everybody. Season is over I think after next big thaw at swb

I am not completely sure about the regs. Many times while fishing SWB I have been watched by eagles sitting in the trees near by. I could be guilty as well because when I catch a badly hooked dink perch that will die and is too small to bring home I toss it to the eagles who gratefully swoop right down and take it away. I also have a long standing hatred of slime dart Pickerel so if I ever get one it too will be eagle food.

As a young boy while unhooking a large Pickerel it tore my right thumb wide open with those nasty teeth. Then it got really seriously infected and cost my family a small fortune and ruined half of my summer with my hand in bandages and back and forth to the doctors. As far as I'm concerned Eagles need to eat too!
If I agreed with you we would both be wrong!

King of the Ice was on Sunday at White Lake, did anyone go?
We got bait on Sunday at Bob's and he said he was very busy early in the morning and was running a bit low on bait.

Something came up and we couldn't make one last outing. Not a bad year. We fished 11 different bodies of water from SWB to a 2 acre pond. I fished with a guy i have fished with for 35 years and a new friend. My son caught his first walleye, and he fished into night for the first time.  Instead of pounding a spot, we fished new waters, and learned and explored. Though we didn't catch much sometimes, we were not skunked once. All this with my arm in a sling. God Bless America. It sure could have been better, but it was good and I am greatful. Now to make some maple syrup, and get ready for early ice out.
